Whiskers New Park News

13th June 2009

I am sorry but we are unable to re-home kittens/cats to any home which is near a main road.

Over the years I've seen so many young cats killed on the roads, unlike a dog you have no say in where a cat goes once it's let out.

We don't like turning any good home down for the animals here in Whiskers New Park but we have to think about the long term best interest for them.

There is just one exception and that is when the cats are being kept as a house cat.

These four puppies brought in to Whiskers New Park recently, we arranged for them to travel to Sweden and now await new homes.

www.neverneverland.se are our friends from Sweden and do fantastic work.

A huge thank you to all those that took part in the Mini Marathon in Dublin on 1st June 2009

Here are just a few of the people that took part in a fund raiser for Whiskers New Park Animal Sanctuary.

€1300 was raised by Jenny Welsh, Kelly Bermingham, Carol Mc Roe, Sonya Fitzgerald & Susie Brown
who is also the Sanctuary vet from The Green Vetinary Clinic, Boyle, Co Roscommon.

The money raised has been used to place a large order for dried cat food which should last a good while.

It's also being used to complete the new units which we were unable to finish due to lack of funds until now.

We are desperately looking for a new home for Fifi, she's lovely with people and children however doesn't get on with other cats.
She's approximately 18 months to 2 Years old, house trained and a very clean cat.

If you can give her a good home and the love and attention she needs please get in touch.

She now has a great home

We just received news today from the Department of Agriculture regarding our 2008 Grant, we were awarded €12,000
which was very disappointing, all grants have been massively reduced this year!

After paying our outstanding debts for vets bills, animal food etc we will be left with just €1000 towards expenses for 2009

All rescues centres are going to have a tough year ahead so please please support your nearest rescue centre in there time of need.

Whiskers New Park is now completely full, we just can't take any more residents until some are re-homed.

24th October 2008

Like all rescue centres this time of year is extremely hard as we are still coping with an overflow of kittens found in hedgerows or dumped in town centres.

Please any help with food or donations would be massively appreciated even just helping out with cleaning and looking after the wellbeing of our residents.
Currently we have no volunteers at all so if you wish to come and give us a helping hand, god bless you.

As always we welcome any animal lovers to come look around at any time and to see the sanctuary or even just to spend some time with the animals.
I'm sure they would appreciate the extra little bit of a attention and love.

The new Guestbook is now up and running, you can visit and sign it by clicking the link at the top of each page

look at these kittens, they were found in a bread bag only 7-10 days old.

My worry was finding the time to fit in feeds as well as looking after all the other residents in the Sanctuary, now thriving at 6 weeks old!

They all are desperately looking for new homes, after they get vaccinated which will start in two weeks time.

All now have a great home
